2025 Revised Maryland College and Career Ready Standards (MCCRS) for Mathematics
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) convened the Standards and Frameworks Validation Committee: Mathematics (SFVC Math) to review, refine, and develop mathematics standards that promote a clear and consistent progression from PreK through high school. The Revised Maryland College and Career Ready Standards (MCCRS) for Mathematics were adopted by the Maryland State Board of Education on July 29, 2025.
A review of course outcomes for the Maryland Community College Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees resulted in a deep dive into the mathematics coursework which should be part of this preparation, not only at the community colleges but in all teacher preparation programs in Maryland. This resource site is an outcome of that work.
AMTE's Standards for Preparing Teachers of Mathematics
AMTE, in the Standards for Preparing Teachers of Mathematics, puts forward a national vision of initial preparation for all Pre-K–12 teachers who teach mathematics. SPTM has broad implications for teacher preparation programs, in which stakeholders include faculty and administrators in both education and mathematics at the university level; teachers, principals, and district leaders in the schools with which preparation programs partner; and the communities in which preparation programs and their school partners are situated.
